Evolve Education Consulting
Vermilion, AB
My name is Jacquie Ganton and I have been an educator in Alberta since 2007. I am also a wife and mom of 4 kids, ages 5-12. I spent my first two years of post-secondary obtaining a degree in Natural Resource Technology from Lakeland College. From there, I transferred to the University of Alberta and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, then continued on to obtain a Bachelor's of Education. My professional experience has afforded me many different opportunities both in the traditional classroom setting and also in distance and outreach education. After several years working in distance education with students throughout the province, it became clear that parents and caregivers had some universal frustrations and sentiments in regards to navigating their child's education. Most felt that they struggled to know what was best for their students (from writing and reading in Kindergarten, to homework and course selection in high school). There seemed to be little or no support or resources for families in what their role should be, and teachers were often uncertain how to advise, or struggling to find the available time and energy to devote to parent support. In an effort to learn more, I began researching and seeking advice from local professionals in education, health and wellness and psychology. Working alongside professionals from the Institute of Child Psychology in Alberta as well as colleagues and other parents, I developed Evolve Education Consulting, an organization devoted to providing both families and educators with support and resources on the parent role in education. Unique from tutors, counselors or therapists, we are able to provide information, education and empowerment to parents, and coach teachers on ways to advise parents while minimizing conflict and frustration. As both a parent and a teacher I understand the challenges and frustrations of both roles and I am thrilled to be helping bridge the gap between home and school. My passions include teaching, writing, speaking, riding horses and fostering creativity!
