Teaching About Sexuality and Relationships to Students with Diverse Abilities
All students have the right to sexuality education, however, children and youth with disabilities do not always receive it. Develop your capacity and comfort in teaching about sexuality to students living with disabilities. In this session, participants will prepare to teach about sexuality and relationships to their diverse abilities students in their schools and will identify ways Alberta Health Services can provide support. We will include discussion of the importance of ensuring that all youth, regardless of ability, receive sexuality and relationship education as well as an exploration of sexuality, bias, working with parents and community, and managing challenging issues. Practical strategies, tools and resources will be shared.
