What does it look like when students struggle with number sense? What experiences do they need to successfully continue their mathematical journey? How do you challenge the students who need a challenge? Counting collections routine provides meaningful and challenging experience for all students in K-6 classrooms. It allows students to start with their current level of understanding and use concrete materials to progress to increasingly sophisticated mathematical ideas. In this interactive session, teachers will experience how counting collections can support students in developing counting skills, understanding of grouping, place value and four operations as well as enhance their mathematical communication.
