This session is a clinic based on beginner guitar pedagogy designed to show music educators (guitar players and non-players alike) how to start their novice students correctly.
For this, we will examine the www.gslakieguitar.com program. Resources will be given and
demonstrated enabling music teachers to run 10-13 weeks of daily classes. Topics will include
acquiring the correct equipment for your class, setting up performance outcomes, and teaching
using correct pedagogical principles. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own guitar and join in
on learning how to teach guitar. Ten guitars will be available at the session for use. This session is ideal for band/choral teachers interested in starting a guitar program or club at their school.
